We are all used to seeing automakers raise the prices (i.e. MSRPs) of their vehicles over time? However, it seems throughout 2023 Tesla has been slashing the prices of their vehicles numerous times. For example, on the Model S and X Tesla dropped prices 7 times already this year! From the beginning of the year to now, Tesla dropped prices of the Model S and X by $30,000 and $41,000, respectively. Prices for their Model 3 and Y have dropped up to $30,000.
.
Scotty,
What the heck is going on?! I imagine those that bought these vehicles before the price drops must be really upset since the value of their vehicles has plummeted overnight due to all the price drops.
What the heck is going on?!

I actually wonder what is going in Elon Musk's mind.

That's the truth right there Chuck.
There's only so much greed that the public will tolerate (or be able to afford).
He's trying to appeal to the masses, now. Nobody wants a second hand Tesla and the market is becoming more saturated with other EVs. He's lowering the price because he's being forced to, in order to stay "competitive". The Chevrolet Bolt is an EV, Ford's Mach-E is an EV, in pretty sure Kia makes an EV now, too. He's doing it to keep Tesla alive. Personally, I can't stand Teslas, or really any EV. In my neck of the woods, power plants are fueled by natural gas. All you are doing is moving the emissions from your tailpipe to the power plant's. You're saving minimal emissions.
Undoubtedly to sell more cars. (There's a sucker born every minute.) Tesla has learned how to build them cheaper, and has an advantage that most other manufacturers don't - Tesla can pocket money taken from other companies due to the carbon credit scheme. (From what I've read that used to be the only profit Tesla made, they made no money on the cars themselves.)
I actually wonder what is going in Elon Musk's mind. What does he think of when it comes to making his cars better? Does he even look what is going on in the real world?
