Hi. I’m Dwayne from Bruno, Saskatchewan, Canada. I am having an issue with my ‘99 Toyota RAV4. It’s 4 speed automatic. Prior to not firing up now, it did make a type of humming sound. If you’d sit on the drivers seat and listen you could hear it clearly. I know it’s not the Engine itself or Alternator. Could it be the fuel pump ? I think I’m suppose to hear the pump kick in when you turn the ignition. That didn’t make a sound. Just two clicks from under the hood and it would turn over the engine but not fire up. Happy holidays to everyone.

Try some starter fluid. If it works, based on your symptoms, the fuel pump is probably shot. Check the FAQ section of this forum for more information.
