Hi. I have a 2014 Honda Civic Lx with 230,000 miles. What is the best rain repellant for windshields? I use rain-x, but it does not seem to work well for me in summer thunderstorms. I have read about creating different mixtures, but I have seen any reviews on homemade rain repellants. Is there a way to increase the speed of the windshield wipers? Sometimes, I think this would help. Thanks.

I use this stuff, I believe it’s made in Japan.

I’ve found it to work beautifully at speeds of up to 45-50mph. I don’t need to turn on the wipers as long as it isn’t a heavy downpour.
Heck, it’s even applied to the front windshields of jet transport airplanes and it helps immensely, even at speeds in excess of 150mph (in flight).
Where can this project be purchased in the US? Does is work well at 65-70 mph?
If the rain isn’t intense, yes. Although for the sake of safety, use your windshield wipers whenever you see fit. I believe this is the product available in the US -

One thing you might want to try is to clean the windshield first with NU FINISH car polish to make sure it's spotlessly clean. Then apply the Rain X glass cleaner. I found this combination to work very well at all speeds.
I live on the wet coast (130in. rain annually) and I don't use any repellents. I just turn on the wipers. I can see just fine and I don't have to buy anything or spend time applying finishes.
Not even mosquito repellents?!

Holy crap!
We are all just bugs on the windshield of life.
