Hello Scotty,

My truck's windshield have scratches on it that causes glaring from lights at night time. I wish if there a way to add pictures to make things much clearer, but I found this reddit link to show it: https://www.reddit.com/r/Cartalk/comments/b6bo7c/any_ideas_how_to_solve_this_windshield_glare/ I understand the problem is caused by the wiper, but is there's a way to fix or clean it without replacing the windshield?

Best regards.

Unfortunately windshield glass is so hard and thick it's very hard to get rid of scratches usually it's pretty much impossible you prevent it but once you get them they make glass polishing kits you could try but for my experience it doesn't work well or you end up polishing so much the glass is warped and the windshield gives you weird vision

Thank you Scotty, I also watched this video about fix the issue with this tool. What do you think about it?

Sorry to hear that.  I’m afraid there isn’t a really great solution.  You could try coating the windshield with a polymer like Rain-X (or just old fashioned carnauba wax) to level out the surface, but it will probably have only a minor effect (and I’ve never liked the smudges and glare that stuff leaves).

Honestly you’ll have to replace the glass if you want it fixed.  But it can be prevented. The scratches are caused by dirt embedded in the wipers that scrapes across the glass.  When I get gas, I always wash the windshield and then wipe off the wiper blades.  Then when I wash the car, I really clean them off good with a damp towel.  I’ve never had that scratching problem with my cars.
