Hi Scotty, how often should I add a fuel system cleaner like the gum out product you suggested to my car?

No. You don't need it.

As long as you put good quality gas in the tank, those additives are not really needed.

You shouldn't need to add any cleaner. Gasoline already has additives to keep the system clean. The only time you should attempt to clean the fuel system is if you're experiencing engine problems.

Could you share some insight about how this advice relates to Scottys video on using fuel cleaner Gumout? I saw that video too.

I don't know which video you're referring to.

Scotty raves about Gumout! Is he answering these questions or is someone else? The reason I signed up is because of Scotty. Here's the video where he says Gumout is the best : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pl06rITQyHo

There are really no long term tests on additional additives, and mostly come down to personal preference. I would say most are snake oil and not necessary, like some of the other mechanics said, as long as you have good fuel and the car hasn't been sitting like forever and the fuel got old, it's not really needed as modern day fuels are pretty high tech, even compared to ones just 30 years ago. Just keep up with maintenance and your carbon build up ain't bad,(it's a honda not a VW lol) no worries 👍

Hello Scotty & Crew! I have a Honda Odyssey with 170,000 miles. Is it a good idea to include a fuel additive with PEA periodically, or  only if I notice a problem with the way it's running? Thank you!

Who said fuel additives don't help???  They defiantly help manufacturers and sellers!

On a serious  note, it's interesting that Hyundai actually recommends in their manual the use of fuel additives if top tier gas is not used in their cars.

Their additive is Chevron Techron.  Scotty recommends to use 505 CRF in many of his videos.

he recommends it IF your engine runs poorly.

505 CRF can also be used as a preventive fuel additive. It is more expensive but also more effective fuel treatment. Wouldn't hurt to use once a year before oil change. Here is what their website says:

How To Use 505CRF:

To use 505 CRF, simply pour it into your fuel tank.

It is most effective when fuel level is between ½- ¼ tank.

You can use it often as you want, for example at every fill-up. Or during recommended oil change intervals for your vehicle.

The 505 CRF chemical mixture is proven to remove carbon from; fuel injectors, induction ports, induction valves, and combustion chambers. Carbon deposits on the injectors can cause drivability problems and poor fuel mileage.

yes I've heard all the marketing. I still think it's a waste of money.
