Great info. Surprised to see so many Nissans and Hondas on there...
shudder, not shutter
Yep. I had a 2011 Hyundai Sonata and the engine did fail in 2018. Got a new engine free. Got rid of the car 2 weeks ago.
So roughly 70% of these problems are automatic transmission problems. I'll stick with the manual transmission as long as I can buy em.
Seems like a smart idea;)
That is why I do not want an automatic
@g-t
Yeah but depends on brand as well obviously. Mazda had issues with their manual transmissions because they changed the design on the Miata but their autos were perfectly fine. Counter intuative to many.
I was about to say. The 05-06 Explorer was one of the worst cars.
Because they are... Good job you know your stuff 😉 lol
Worst vehicle with the worst problems? BMW E65, hands down! From an early two-thousands (2001-2008), it was a marvel in electronics, … feature by feature, years ahead of anything else! Today, … it is a dinosaur, … technologically speaking. Not only that, all that olden technology was/is just perhaps, the most unreliable in history of the world! Period. And the other stuff beside electronics, … was the most unreliable in history of the world, too! Countless number of these cars BMW had to re-purchase!
I remember it all, … c.2002, wife and I visited a local BMW emporium, … rumour was they had Z8 on the showroom floor, and I couldn’t wait. They did, … as they did, too, E65. My wife went for E65, … and I got lost in Z8. Neither of us was bothered, … probably because we pulled in in ‘83 VW Jetta, …
As I recall, … price of each was pretty close in the same ball park, … something in the order of C$145K.
Anyway, … today, Z8 is commanding north of U$250k, … E65? Oh, … about U$2.50k!

Wow, period
hehe... just need the first 3 letters (BMW). A shame too as it's really an engineering marvel...just used improper (cheap) components putting them together (plastic!) But an excellent example of a Rube Goldberg for sure!

I think it's weird that VW didn't make it anywhere on the list
Yep. I checked on carcomplaints and the worst most common problem is engine failure from oil sludge on the 03 Passat, but the average cost of fixing was upwards of 3 grand!!! That is a lot and it deserves to get the title of horrible but they look at rates of the amount sold and how common and severe etc. so I guess that is their list.
