hey y’all! I have a 2003 Honda Element. It’s has 250,000 miles and the engine was running really strong. It overheated. I did not drive it when it was red. Over heated twice. Did compression test and they are saying it’s a head gasket ( 3 mechanics ) I’m being quoted 1900 or 3000 ( if any of the heads got warped. The car feels solid aside from this issue. Would anyone say I should go for it and get the job done or am I nuts to through 3000 at it? Thanks for any intuitive guidance. I know Hondas are solid and can go forever. I can’t afford a new car or even a new used car. This is my last hope. Go for it?? Thanks guys!! And thanks for reading🙏🏼🌄
Are you losing coolant?
Is oil mixing with the coolant?

On a car that old with that mileage I would normally only recommend doing this if you were doing the job yourself. The gasket itself is cheap, most of the job is labor. Since that's not the case but you can't afford to buy a replacement vehicle you don't have much choice. Just pray the cost doesn't escalate too badly if unexpected problems arise. Especially on something this old the shop is not going to know what they're really dealing with until they get into the job.
Why did it overheat?
