I purchased a Toyota Vangaurd 3.5 v6 2007 last year anyway when I took it in for a service I was told when it was last serviced they used the wrong engine oil(to thin)the mechanic said it caused the inside of the oil filter to implode,he said to see what happens it seems fine only thing is there is a bit of a rattley sound when started up apart from that it seems ok,do you think there could be any damage?

Can you upload a picture of the oil filter? Also a YouTube video of the noise on startup would be great. Then post the video link here.

Well I've never heard of that myself the only thing I could see would be a really cheap filter. But if a filter did have a problem it could stop oil flow and damage the engine
