Scotty, I have a 2011 Nissan Xterra Pro-4x with 100,000 miles and an automatic transmission. This past winter, it stopped defrosting the windshield while idling. What is the likely problem? Thank you.

If it defrosts while driving, there's a problem with your cooling system. Start with replacing the radiator cap, if it's the original one.

OK, "stopped defrosting" is very vague. Be more specific please.
It doesn't blow any air on any setting, or it just doesn't switch to windshield?
Or do you mean it is blowing air, but the air is not hot enough?
while idling
so it works while driving?
