| You should look for a different vehicle If you do decide to get the Taurus, here are some things to keep in mind: The transmission will fail right after 100k miles The suspension will fall apart The engine will make weird sounds You will have AC issues If you are fine with all this, then sure why not. If you don't like spending $10,000 in repairs on a lawn ornament, Run Away Please! | |||||

| I am not a mechanic. My 2001 Taurus tranny was a bit harsh so on a hunch I put in Dr. Tranny Fix. Only two ounces and it smoothed right out. $10 at the store. Maybe it will help, maybee not. | |||||
| Answer to: 6th generation Ford Taurus | 16Relevance | 6 years ago | Kerem | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| They are decent without the ecoboost engines. There are options for Cyclone or Ecoboost engines and you definetly want to have the Cyclone in that case. They are decent as I said but a 1st generation Ford Fusion might be more reliable. It depends on what you want and the price range. They go for basically nothing because of horrendous resale value and with low miles you might get your moneys worth then again it a Toyota Avalon would last 3 times as long and be more luxurious, all for around the same price of the Taurus just 4 5 years older. | |||||
| 2006 Ford Taurus 3.0 Vulcan V6 - idle issue | 16Relevance | 6 years ago | M.Denis27 | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| I have a 2006 Ford Taurus with the 3.0L Vulcan V6. It’s got just over 130k miles and the idle has a little jump while sitting or stopped in traffic. The idle jumps between 650-750 rpms. Check engine light came on one day, had it checked and said cylinder 3 misfire. Noticed the headlights dim in and out a bit while it’s idling too. I’ve replaced the spark plugs and cleaned the IAC and it didn’t smooth it out. Any insight on this? | |||||

| Hi Scotty, I have a 2000 Taurus that I need to keep up and running until I save up enough for a Toyota. Right now, have a few problems. 1. After the car has warmed up, then shut down, sometimes on startup again, it wants to not stay running at idle and I get P1504. 2. When I check the transmission level when cold, it reads higher than max. Then when I check when it's been running and warm, it reads low. Should I add Lucas since it's slipping or should I drain it completely first? Thanks for your help! Can't wait until I have enough for a Tacoma... | |||||

| How reliable are the 2000-2007 Ford Taurus's? I know a lot of the pre-faclift cars had transmission problems, but did they fix those problems? I also know it's expensive to repair, but is it labor or the parts that's expensive? | |||||
