| Good Day Scotty, I've been driving my 1996 Ford Exployer XLT, since day 1, The first time, I had the Transmission completely overhauled which was 8yrs ago. The trans is now slipping. My Exployer is otherwise a dream Car, Minimal maintenance over 27yrs. Still has many of the original parts.. Because of my aging legs, I need a SUV, space for getting in and out of the car, easily. I'm looking at Ford Edge, Honda CRV, Toyota Rav4, or something Midsize. I would purchase another Exployer 2019-2022, but they all come now with 3rd row, which I don't need that m ... | |||||

| ... started surging at low gears. Ford dealer found codes and wants to break it down which I'm guessing will mean replacement for about $7,000!! YIKES. This was going to be my fun family camping vehicle so I need it reliable. But is it really worth it? I'll either loose $9 to $8,000, or spend +$16,000 on a vehicle worth half that. By the way, it drives like a dream on open highway, my family loves the roominess even though not an EL, I'm the 2nd owner, and I don't even mind the low 14 MPG. | ... I'm going 40 and I need to slow down and de accelerate sometimes it shifts strange. After I hit the stops the car struggles to accelerate and has a very hard time gaining speed at slow speeds. If I'm going above 50 the car drives like a dream have no issues going fast. I've had countless issues with the catalytic converter system, same P0420 code nonstop bought a cheap one off Amazon only lasted a year now the code is back. | ... like a dream, the auto zone print out says to change the transmission filter, do you think that will get rid of the problem? Also do you think the used car lot knew about the problem because the trans fluid was obviously changed when I bought the car, it has a dipstick. Any advice would be appreciated, I started working at a dealership 5 months ago so I have access to all the tools I need but as of now I just change oil and do basic repairs until I get a higher education school so I lack a lot of knowledge. | |||||
