2013 Expedition XLT Transmission surge

Hi Scotty,

I love your channel.  I'm on the fence of buying used, rebuild, remanufactured trani for my 2013 Ford Expedition XLT.  Or, I sell it for whatever I can get.

I just bought it with 156k miles for $7k then put in $2K for tires and suspension.  After 1,000 miles the trani started surging at low gears.  Ford dealer found codes and wants to break it down which I'm guessing will mean replacement for about $7,000!! YIKES.  This was going to be my fun family camping vehicle so I need it reliable.  But is it really worth it?  I'll either loose $9 to $8,000, or spend +$16,000 on a vehicle worth half that.  By the way, it drives like a dream on open highway, my family loves the roominess even though not an EL, I'm the 2nd owner, and I don't even mind the low 14 MPG.

'Ol wise one, what should I do.

Sad to say I never bought that thing in the first place because they always turn into money pits as they age. If and I mean, if you can find a guy who knows how to rebuild those transmissions, let him go at it. Or just sell the stupid thing and get something better
