| Which First Car for 15yr old? | 8Relevance | 5 years ago | Mustafa | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| Hey! I am currently 15 and want to get a car in next year August. I will be making about 9k a year and I will probably have about 12k saved up when I am looking for a car. I really want a new car because of all those bells and whistles, but I also don't want to be in debt because I will save up money for college. I want to spend about 7k max for a car so I can have about 5k to keep that car running even If I can't earn money. So that money will be like my emergency money. I am looking at 2009-2014 Honda Civics (excludes 2012), 2009-2014 Honda Accords, 2012-2014 Toyota Camrys and, 2010-2013 Mazda 3's. My uncle owns a 2011 Civic and a 2012 Mazda 3. He had little to no issues with those cars and I might get something like that too or I can get a little bigger car which probably will be a Honda Accord. These are reliable cars but I have never owned a car before so I don't really know what to expect in these cars. Can you help me to choose one that is a little sporty feeling, I don't want a fast car. It should be safe, reliable, get me through High school, and maybe even a little bit of College without major issues. I will do my own oil changes and maintenance. What do you think? Should I go for these cars, or which one should I go for? Did you have any experience with these cars? | |||||

| ... it's a big stressor. Just for some history of the car... early this year I took my car from North carolina to California and BACK! The tires needed to be completely changed. Ok... not so bad... A few months ago I took my car from North carolina to Niagara Falls (Canada) and BACK! The alternator was replaced, alongside the battery. Upon arrival at Niagara Falls, we got STRANDED there as the engine seized! My 130,000-mile engine was replaced with an engine with 33,000 miles on it. Amazing, but... EXPENSIVE! I tell you this because I am now constantly paranoid ... | |||||

| ... gas mileage but I have never had a hybrid before. This is going to be my first purchase from a dealership so I want to make absolutely sure nothing will go wrong if I get a hybrid because I heard that the transmission on the older Toyota hybrid models develop problems. Is this a good option? Should I be worried about anything with this make and model or that it’s a Toyota hybrid? | |||||

| ... @Toyota_boy , first: see if there is anything you don't like about the car(s) at all. My personal pick would be the outback btw, could be a little paint scratch here, maybe something on the interior had a stain. Under the hood of the car and dealer wiped plastic, tear off the plastic cover and see if it's hella dirty. Anything at all. Inspect the thing with a fine tooth comb for anything that stands out to you at all. Then say what you think it should cost. Eg the outback: $8450 without tax and reg right? So add another $2k to that and the total cost is $10 ... | |||||
