hello there.

Congratulations for your great videos. After that I watched video with oil catch cans and other videos with remaps etc I would like to do some questions and tell you my awful story about my car.

First of all excuse my bad English and for the long post.

I bought a new peugeot 208 in 2018, 1.2 thp with 110 ps 5 gears manual . From the first 2000 km it was popin a yellow mark sayin (top up engine oil level) I went to peugeot dealers they asked me if I park in hill which I didn’t. They checked oil it was ok and they say it just the sensor some times it reads faulty. Anyway that lamp was just popin sometimes and sometimes not. Some months later and after 10000-15000 km having only one year the car It was a time I tried to just overtake another car . So by the time I pressed the pedal more at around 2,500 rpm the car misfired(hesitated) for a second, it was so terryfing but nothing bad happened I pressed the pedal more and it was normal again. Went to dealer they say that they don’t see anything strange on the ecu. I left and the car was doin the same thing always at 2-2,5k rpm with 4th or 5th gear and wasnt doin it all the time , but as the time was passing it was happening more often. I had gone to dealer so many times they claimed they don’t see something until , they saw the fault codes on the ecu. So I left the car there and they saw that intake valves was total black carbon. I know that it happens in DI turbo engines but not so quick. They told me shits about bad fuels and bad oils or bad injectors while I was servicing the car only there. Anyway they spoke with the factory and they said there is a new software for the ecu that prevents this to happen and they also sent a machine which cleans the valves, and also the yellow lamp I had since I bought the car had something to do with all the problem. They had my car there for over one month just waiting for the machine. They cleaned the intake vales I saw pictures before and after and they seemed like new. But after only one month problem came back. Same thing so I went again and told the to replace my car or change all the engine. And finally I managed to convince them and they replaced all the machine with a new one from the factory for free ofc. Only turbo and ecu is the same. From this time I have do 25,000 km with the new engine and everything is normal but I have lost faith in this car cuz im afriad soon or later it will do it again. one time only with the new machine the yellow lamp came back and i was parked on a big hill

I have also remapped my car one month before. It went from 110 to 140bhp and from 22nm torque 27,5 on dyno. its much more fun to drive now.

So I want to ask

1. is there any case that remap will make the things worse and carbon on valves comes back sooner ? Cuz im sure if this happens again somtime they will blame the map.

2. should I consider of buying an oil catch can? Do they fit in all cars the same? Or I have to find for my model?

3.Can 100ron petrol help with clean valves? I usually use 98ron shell vpower and never the simple 95 one and sometimes vpower racing which is 100ron. But is 100ron even better than 98 in cleaning? Mapper also told me to use 100ron. But is much more expensive.

4. how did my car started to misfire only a month after I have cleaned the valves? Is this normal?

5. what can I do to avoid such a thing in near future?

6. I have heard it helps also to drive it in high rpms to keep the valves clean. Is this true? And how often should I do it?

Thank you very much.

To avoid these problems in the future, sell the car and get something that is well designed and made.  Do not buy Peugeot vehicles again.
