| 2003 dodge Dakota overheating | 18Relevance | 5 years ago | Josiah_Duff | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| Hi I have a 2003 dodge Dakota that has been overheating since our last major snow storm. Personally, I think it has something to do with the thermostat. While I was removing the ice and snow from the driveway and truck, I had the engine running with the intent to have heat blowing to melt the Ice. I noticed after a good 20 minutes when I hopped in the truck to see if it was warm yet, (which it should’ve been) the air was ice cold and the engine was overheating. Anyone know what the issue is? Is it a stuck shut thermostat? And if so what can I do to fix it? | |||||

| Good Evening Scotty. I have a weird question and have no idea what is going on? I have a 2005 dodge Dakota st 4x4 automatic 124000 miles on it. I had to replace the starter on my truck. Since it has so many miles and poor fuel economy. I went ahead and changed out the Spark plugs Coils And Fuel Injectors. Plus i had to put 2 new connectors on two of injectors on passenger side Wired the connectors like old ones top wire to top and bottom to bottom Of connector. Also replaced the pcv valve since old one broke when trying to remove to work on it. When i first ... | |||||

| Hello First time here. I need help trying to figure out a no-code misfire most noticeable under very light acceleration. 06 Dakota 4.7 4x4 with 300 000 km. Things I've done so far: Ruled out cats using temp gun, vacuum test & disconnecting the exhaust. Changed plugs from autolite to champion. Cleaned throttle body. Changed air filter, MAP sensor and AIC valve, fuel pressure checked ok while driving and misfiring. Cleaned injectors and tested resistance. Checked resistance of coils. Checked for vacuum leak by spraying throttle body cleaner on air line ... | |||||

| I have a 2005 Dodge Dakota st 3.7l v6 automatic 4x4 123000 miles Last year I started having issues starting the truck when hot. I was finally able to get the lock cylinder and ignition switch replaced recently. I also replaced all associated relays and fuses with this. When it is winter time i have no issues at all. But when it starts to warm up any like recently 70 degrees. I go to start the truck it turns over but will not start. After the 3rd time it starts and runs just fine no issues. There are no codes on the reader before or after this happens. But ... | |||||

| I have a 2000 Dodge Dakota SLT V6 with 145000 miles. I bought the car Sept 2020 and within a few days of driving it (about a week) I was having issues. When I took it to my mechanic who found out that BOTH the heads had cracks in them (He said the previous owner most likely used stop leak to hide it). They had the heads resurfaced but no matter how many times I took it to them, the P0303 kept coming up. They pretty much had the vehicle from Sept to December. Things finally fixed and since then the only issues I had were coolant hoses going bad. Well, abo ... | |||||

| As others have said, the older the better. My uncle worked delivering mail in the urban areas, lots of stop and go, getting up to speed and then stopping. He would buy Chevy S-10s in the 80s and every year he would tear the transmission out and get a new one. He switched to a Dakota and it lasted two years on the mail route, then he gave it to his son, which drove it like crazy, and it lasted a good long while. That was in the early 90's, I would say about 93. Not bad little trucks back then. Of course, then he switched to a toyota truck and couldn't wear ... | |||||

| The older the better. A family friend had a '93 V8 4x4 Dakota and he had it 17 years. It still ran and drove well when he got rid of it. Not sure what the mileage was, but that thing was pretty well dented in a few places and still ran. The oil pump acted up on a surface street and he got it replaced. He got rid of it for a slightly used 2005 V6 4x4 back in 2007. That one blew the transmission at 102k. | |||||

| I replaced the clutch in my 1999 dodge Dakota sport v6 manual and also replaced the clutch master and slave cylinder. When I go to start it the starter is working and I can see the belt moving it just doesn't turn over. When I was putting the bellhousing back on and the crank shaft wasn't going in so I looked and this round Spring came out of the crank shaft. Also underneath the truck near the bellhousing there is a a plug that I can figure out where it plugs into. It's kind of just there. Honestly if I had the money I would fly you out here to kansas. But I ... | |||||
