| High Idle When Cold, Taurus SEL 2004, Vulcan Gas Engine | 17Relevance | 4 years ago | TNGUY2 | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| I have a Taurus wagon that sat for about 6 months and then was used again. The idle was fine, and then I cleaned the throttle body with carbuerator cleaner from Walmart. Now, when I start the car with a cold engine, it revs us to 2500 RPM and then quickly drops to 1500 RPM. It stays there for about 2-3 minutes and then drops to 1100 RPM and then, when I push on the brake pedal it lowers to 1050 RPM, at which time I put the engine in gear. The idle is normal when the car is warm. I did not wipe out the throttle body with a towel when I sprayed it, and I ... | |||||

| Scotty, I have a 1995 Ford Taurus 3.0 V6 OHV that has a rough idle. I noticed while adjusting the ignition timing with an induction light on the cylinder 1 plug wire that the light would not light up randomly every second or two. I checked all 5 other plug wires and it's the same story but seems to get better the shorter the plug wire. I just bought and installed a new set of plugs and wires and the timing light still intermittently skips a beat on each plug wire. At this point, it has a new cap and rotor, plugs, and wires. Is this more of a weak spark issue ... | |||||
| 2015 Taurus trans fluid change? | 17Relevance | 4 years ago | Oscar79 | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| Scotty my recently purchased 2015 Taurus 3.5 has 54,000 miles on it so I’m doing a transmission fluid service at my local Ford dealer. They want to take out all the fluid with a fancy back flush machine. I was just going to start doing a drain and refill on a very regular basis. Isn’t there about 3 qts left in the torque converter after a simple drain? Thanks. | |||||

| 2015 Taurus 3.5 water pump | 17Relevance | 4 years ago | Oscar79 | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| Scotty I just bought a 2015 Ford Taurus 3.5 with 53k mikes. I really like this car. I read they have expensive internal water pumps that can ruin an engine if they leak. A Ford tech said I should replace the water pump and timing chain at 60k just to be safe. Another Ford tech said not to worry about it because “it will throw a coolant code before it does any damage”. Who’s right? Thanks! | |||||

| Justin Shepherd is correct - main reason to avoid a Ford Taurus. You can also do a search on this Forum to see why you shouldn’t get one. What are your other options? Camry’s and Accord’s are good but can be pricey, but you may also look at a Mazda 6 sedan. | |||||

| And replacing those pumps is a partial engine out job, cost thousands. Best to avoid the Taurus altogether. | |||||

| good idea in getting rid of that 2015 Altima since they are not good, but not a good idea to go for a Taurus. Go for a Camry or Accord (I would personally go Accord for just the entire package and value for money but go Camry if u want the longest life) | |||||

About 10 years ago I had trouble finding a similar module on my 2001 Taurus and I finally found that one hidden behind the radio!! It seems like someone would know where that module is on a wagon!! | |||||
