Symptom is as shown in question subject. I have a cheap Bluetooth scan tool and found P0341 (camshaft position sensor). I replaced the camshaft sensor and got rid of the error code. Still, the symptom persists.

Replacing the cam positioning sensor requires a re- adjustment of ignition timing with a high end scan tool.
Could be a loose connection on the tach. I was out driving just a couple of days ago in a 1995 vehicle, glanced at the tach and was surprised to see it at 0 while going down the road. Hit a bump and it started working again. Not worth getting upset about, the tach is pretty much just entertainment unless you're driving a race car.
