'07 Corolla Rust

Hey Scotty! We have a 2007 Corolla and the driver side quarter panel is rotted with rust. Mechanic quoted us 3K for the fix and repaint. Otherwise, the car runs beautifully its just an exterior thing. The car's already past 250K miles it doesn't count up anymore is it worth it to fix the rust and get the car repainted or get something new? We live in Canada btw so salt and snow is a big concern.

That's a lot of money to spend repairing a 17-year-old Corolla.

Chances are the rust is significantly more extensive than what's visible. There could be rust developing in the unibody structure, suspension attachment points, and/or brake and fuel lines could be rotting away. You should have the car thoroughly inspected for rust in critical areas before putting a lot of money into it.

no. the other panels will be on their way. I wouldn't put ANY money into cosmetics at this point. Just ride it out
