Bought a 07 corolla s with 155000 miles 5 speed original owner i live in bowling green ky I was wondering if there was anything specific to this year to watch out for? Checked the vin doesn't have any open recalls
On your case it would be the transmission. The automatic transmissions were bulletproof but the Corolla, Matrix, and Vibe from 2003-2008 were known for weak manual transmissions.

There is also a Takata airbag recall but I assume that got fixed.
Like someone else mentioned above the manual transmission had some issues in this generation but less so in 2007.
