09 Honda CRV AC part question

I am replacing my entire AC system on my 2009 Honda CRV after I found black metallic goo all throughout my system. From what I can tell, it is a somewhat common issue for AC compressors on CRV’s to grenade and send fine metallic shrapnel throughout the entire system. I was able to replace the compressor, the lines, the condenser. I had some difficulty pulling out the TXV. Several videos suggest using a dremel in the firewall to widen the hole. After some twisting and pulling I was able to pull it out. Unfortunately, I bent the suction hose port slightly on this 90 degree elbow which connects the TXV to the evaporator.

I plan on replacing the evaporator in the dash too because I found some metallic goo inside the elbow as well. My issue is the evaporator I got does not come with a new 90 degree elbow. I scoured the interwebs and I cannot seem to find this elbow part anywhere. I was wondering if this has happened to anyone else? If I truly can’t find the part number, I was wondering if anyone had any luck with some pipe rerounding tools.

@boot so that part for me is good. That part connects to the TXV in the firewall. The TXV then connects to this 90 degree elbow. The suction hole on that elbow is what is bent on me. Here is a picture of the elbow on YouTube.

Sorry, thought I had it. I'll keep looking, like a needle in a haystack.

@boot it's surprisingly difficult to find. I was actually just found the elbow attached to the OEM evaporator. I'm just so surprised the part isn't sold separately. Combined they're almost $400. I figured there was a standalone part. https://www.hondapartsconnection.com/oem-parts/honda-2007-2011-honda-cr-v-evaporator-80211swaa03

Maybe find the part in a scrap yard (if possible) instead of spending $400. Just a thought.

Can you identify the part from this Honda parts diagram?

(You did not specify details about your CR-V but all the variants most likely use the same AC parts.)

@chucktobias it's essentially behind part 17+19 on the far top right, but it's not shown in that diagram or any other one I found. It's an 09 Honda CRV ex-l

If it's part of the evaporator then you have to replace the evaporator. Probably not a bad idea anyway given the massive destruction inside your AC system. Maybe as @boot suggested you can find a good used one. You can search junkyards nationally using the link below:

Also, sometimes you can find used parts on eBay.

@chucktobias yes I think that's good advice. I'll just bite the bullet and buy OEM this time I think. Thanks for the comments everyone!
