Hey scotty, i recently started working on my 1967 Buick electra 225. it’s been sitting in my garage for a while and while i’ve been trying to get the driver side door i cannot get inside because it locked. i’ve tried pulling the lock mechanism up from the inside up and that hasn’t done anything and i’ve also tried using the key from the outside but it’s still won’t budge. do you know of anyway i can get the door open? also the car has no power locking additions from factory. thanks for the help.
I guess you've also tried just pulling the door handle from inside the car. (On some cars the door will unlock when you do this, on some it won't.)
Does the key turn in the exterior lock? If not, have you tried spraying some lock lubricant inside the lock cylinder to free up the mechanism?
If all that doesn't work depending on what's wrong with the lock mechanism you may be able to use a "slim jim" type tool to disengage the lock. If that doesn't work you'll probably need to get inside the door to get your hands on the lock mechanism inside to disengage it. (It's a challenge to remove a door panel with the door closed, I've had to do that.) Alternatively it's possible that an old-school locksmith familiar with GM cars of that era might be able to do something with it.
Try using a slim Jim
