My dad bought his 1986 Toyota pick up used back in 1988. He has maintained it very well and it has lasted to this day. It has Toyota 22-R 4 cylinder engine with a 4 speed manual transmission. Producing 97 and 128 lb•ft of torque. It has over 350,000 miles on it. The issue is the engine is getting to old and is starting to die. I am not willing to let this pick up go as it has to many good memories from my child hood. The truck was manufactured in Japan by the way.Would you recommend getting a replacement me engine ? -Bryan Spencer

Either rebuild the one you have or get a reman from Powertrain Products, ATK or Jasper.

I would get a reman if I were you. I did for mine (1981 4x4) and it's selling for more now than when it was new. I think Powertrain has the best warranties, but check them all out.
