Good morning Scotty. As previously mentioned, I owe a 1998 4Runner and I meant to ask. The E-brake light comes on and off at times while I drive. I feel no play nor anything out of the ordinary going on while either driving or in park. What do you think I could be? And what can I do to fix it? TIA
Check your brake fluid level. If it's just a hair low, it shifting in the reservoir can set off the brake warning light and then turn it off again when it sloshes back.
Check the brake fluid.
It is a parking brake, not an emergency brake. Check to make sure the lever and associated cables are disengaged. Check your brake fluid reservoir. If the fluid is low, the light will come on. Check your brake pads for excessive wear. Also, check to switch on the parking brake shaft.
