Hi Scotty
I bought a 1990 Miata (made in Japan) with a stock Jatco 4 speed automatic, the milage is 206,000 KM, the transmission shifts ok but not silky smooth, the transmission oil is clear red and clean. do you recommend changing replacing that every 90,000 miles.
also, the car is parked under cover but the carpet on the driver's footwell is wet, is that an indication the heater core is leaking. I've checked the radiator, the coolant is full and up to the top.
thanks and appreciate your help
Wayne
Well this old me honest can leak all over the place but if it has AC fix the EVAP drain hose it's clogged up. Answer the jetco transmission it is a very poorly made one it's a very old car I would not mess with it cuz if you change the fluid and filter it might slip and not work at all you're lucky it's still going down the road that was the one problem with those old miatas they had horrendous chadco transmissions but of course the new ones now have Toyota Asian transmissions so they work much better
