1994 mustang O/D Off

Anyone know why my overdrive is off it's suppose to be on i recently helped my brother changed his transmission to a new one

There might be a switch on the shifter if it's column mounted that has O/D off and on written on it. On Fords of that era, it's a press pad on the end of the lever. Push it to turn overdrive back on. 


I did just that and still won't turn off have any other solutions?


The switch might be broken. You might need to press it a certain way because it's worn out. My Ranger will do that sometimes.
