I bought this truck for $1000.00 from my father in-law. It was originally bought by my wife's grandfather new in 1994 (I have the original bill of sale). It has always been garaged and rarely winter driven. It now has 71,000 kms or 43,000 miles.  My in-laws live in a small town the truck was used regularly for trips to the hardware store, dump and grocery store. I have documents that it was serviced yearly. It has J s/n so it was built in Japan. I watch Scotty's youtube daily and following his advise looked over the body of the truck, I found no rust and the frame is still in black paint with factory markings. The only things I had to do was replace the tires, wheel alignment (because the old front tires had uneven wear) and a new Radiator. The 22RE runs well, the AC blows cold, and the automatic trany shifts great. My wife and I married in 1995 so I have been aware of this truck forever. I was fortunate that my wife's six other siblings didn't want this truck. I get unsolicited offers all the time for many times more than I paid for it. My question is: Is there any concerns or issues I should watch for?

Noting what you've already listed I'll assume the coolant was changed when the radiator was replaced. It'd be wise to change the brake fluid, power steering fluid also. Inspect the rubber brake lines if it wasn't done when the tires were put on. Check the belts.. Those older Toyota trucks were built well but as with anything time and age takes it's toll. Feel like I'm missing something, others chime in plz!

Yes the coolant was changed when the rad was installed. While in the shop I had the valve cover gasket replaced (it was starting to leak) and the oil was changed. The insurance company demanded a full mechanical and safety inspection. The brakes were inspected including the lines, no issues. The belts passed the test too. The color of the trany and power steering fluids looked good, I may take your advice and change the fluids next service. The mechanic asked me if it was a show truck. I was at a Toyota dealership when I bought the valve cover gasket and the service manager there offered me many more times what I paid for it, I turned him down. It feels like I got a barn find.

Yep, that's definitely a sweet find. Tacoma w/22re can run forever. Man aren't you glad the relatives were clueless

My wife's grandfather drove the truck till he was 97. It then passed to my father in-law. My in-laws sold their place and moved into a seniors villa and no longer needed the truck but kept their Avalon. My father in-law knew the value of the truck but wanted it to stay in the family. My wife's brothers were content with their Ram and GMC pick ups and her sister's didn't care. I turn 57 this year and hope to pass it on to my son when that time comes. I'm having fun driving it, its nice to drive somethings that isn't teched out.
