Dear Scotty,
My 1995 Toyota Avalon with 195,000 miles is making a "clinking" noise that's been happening intermittently for a few years.
Sounds like it's coming from the engine compartment on the other side of the firewall on the driver side or maybe (?) behind the dash. It's a clink-ety noise that comes and goes and sounds like a small part is loose and ready to fall off but nothing ever does. The noise goes away after a while with no handling problems or other issues, just the clinking.
2 mechanics couldn't help because it wouldn't make the noise the times I took it in, but now I finally have a video. You will notice that it does not clink while car is at stop, some clinking while car is moving, more clinking when going over bumps. Also, the clinking in the video sounds WAY louder than it really is, the noise is much quieter while driving, passengers usually don't notice.
Thanks for any help!
