I have a 2 wheel drive 1996 ford xlt with the 5.0. It runs good but it doesn't want to shift into second gear. and when it does it will randomly switch back to first then neutral then 2nd or 3rd or 1st. There is no order to it. It's like it doesn't know what gear it needs. Iv changed the speed sensor on the rear axle tube and another sensor on the side of the transmission. Also I have no codes showing on the obd2 scanner. Any help would be much appreciated
Well generally that means those things need to be rebuilt. But if you can find a good mechanic to road test it with the fancy Ford scanner, he can play around with the shift. Solenoids with bidirectional control and pray that something's going wrong with those or the valve body and that it doesn't need a total rebuild
