....It appears the head gasket is blown on the Northstar engine contained in this 1998 Cadillac Eldarado .

Is this thing worth fixing , either with a head gasket replacement at $6-8k

Or

A new ENGINE at $12,750 .....

The car has 77,627 miles on it & the body and transmission are in good condition .

I don't think so if you have to pay that kind of money for the repair. Have you verified the head gasket problem? (It is very common on that engine.)

Yes the shop said it was a blown head gasket .

Would you advise at a last ditch effort to use sealer repair you run through the cooling system ?...

That's a temporary band-aid at best that might not work at all and might plug up your cooling system. It might (or might not) get you down the road a few more miles.

You'll want to get some other opinions on a decision like this but I'd be very hesitant to put that kind of money into a 25-year-old Eldorado.

Thank you
