Hello I was wondering which truck would last longer and be a overall better truck a 1999 Chevy Silverado 1500 4x4 5300 sfi V8 4 speed with 84000km private deal or a 2000 Chevy Silverado 6.0L 2wd with 87000km on it at a dealership. I live in the Canada we have harsh winters and I’m in the country sometimes it gets a little muddy. I’d also be pulling a smaller camper trailer
The two-wheel drive one would last longer
Chevy’s of that era were built pretty well. They both would serve you well. Really depends if you need 4 wheel drive or not. If your gonna be towing regularly I would go with the 2500. It will handle winters and “a little muddy” just fine with the right tires. Putting a wench on the front will give you some options if you get stuck.
I would go with the 1500. They still built them well in this year, before all the electronic crap was installed. Basic maintenance with an emphasis on lubrication of everything (engine, differentials, trans and transfer case) will make it last a long time.
