- My girlfriend just got a 2010 Toyota Corolla. It's got about 80,000 miles on it. I've noticed that whenever you press the accelerator pedal, even gradually, the car will jerk forward a little faster than normal and then will will accelerate normally after that. I've changed her air filter and spark plugs no help, not sure what next. I also notice that as you come to a stop you feel the car slightly shake the last 2 to 5 seconds of braking, like it's coming from the engine, possibly related to the acceleration issue?

Check and verify as said before the transmission fluid but also check your motor mounts if one is torn causing excessive movement it can do that in changes of engine load like initial acceleration or braking

sounds to me like a possible transmission issue - Is this car an automatic (PRND shift pattern), robotic (RNE shift pattern) or a manual?
It's automatic prnd
Well, then it’s not going to be a simple fix…
check you translation fluid, check that there is no excessive movements under the hood, and if replacing the fluid (with the OEM spec one) doesn’t help go to a tranny shop…
