Hi, my 1999 Crown Vic has a hard time coming out of park. I really gotta press in the brake and wiggle the shifter to try and get it out of park. Once I shift it out of park, it shifts smoothly between RND21 and even back into the park. It is the initial move out of park that is a pain.
I have adjusted the 2, t30 screws/bolts under the steering column and that help a little. mostly just getting the shift indicator back on the correct gears and not to the side of it. Even after tightening the bolts, i run into problems trying to get it out of park.
What should i do?
Thank you in advance!
So is this a problem with the brake-shift interlock or is there a problem with the linkage/cable binding up?
Follow these steps to help narrow it down to one or the other:

Hey it looks like it is the brake shift interlock. So from my understanding is there a solenoid I need to replace?
Maybe you're parked on an incline and the parking brakes are not holding. Then the transmission parking lock tab is jammed against the parking lock wheel. I know this an obvious, but I thought I'd offer something.
My first thoughts were that the parking pawl has somehow gotten deformed, but the other than that, the other answers regarding the interlock mechanism makes sense. See a professional to get it checked out.
