I have 1999 ford f150 sport v8 4 6 Iv already had brand new clutch an flywheel put in . The rear was howling since I got truck then started clunking . O rielys has rear end 1600$ with 250$ core 3 year warrenty . Or highly rated rebuild shop said 600-1400$ to diagnose an replace whatever is broke/worn .. what do I do also the rear end is a 3 55 , 8.8 , 1 wheel squeeler.

Use the rebuild shop if they have a good reputation

The ring and pinion gears are probably shot. Check your drive shaft u joints first to eliminate them as the cause of the clunk. Most people totally neglect the u joints until there is a problem. It's a pretty easy fix, though.
