Keep or sell my 2016 Ford F-150?

Hi scotty,

got a 2016 ford f150 V8 with 130k miles. The car is  being serviced regularly and been following the manufacturer’s periodic checks too.

as am commuting between 2 cities with a milage of 2000 miles a month, am concerned that the car might just give up one day. Is it a good decision to keep it with the mentioned checks or do you advise to replace it with a newer one? Working in an airline and missing a flight can be pain in the ***

if keeping its is your answer, when do I consider replacing it?

The car is running perfect at the moment.

thnx

khalid

Keep it, you my friend have the last of the great TRUE V8s, replace the transmission and motor when they go out. That gen 5.0 is a phenomenal motor. And the 6R80 transmission has a clean record for the most part. I drive a ‘15 5.0 and in my opinion, the last great F150 Ford put out was the 2015-2017 5.0s.

This is a bad time to be looking for another vehicle if you don't need to. By my standards a 2016 model with only 130K miles is still practically new! If it's in good condition with no problems I'd hold onto it at least until the market returns to some semblance of sanity. (Having said all this I don't know if that particular vehicle is prone to serious problems - if it is, that might tip the balance in favor of replacement.)

I have a 2001 Ford Explorer Sport with 165k on it. I change the oil every 3-4k miles and transmission fluid every 30k. Engine still runs great and transmission is running about 90% with some very slight slipping between gears but nothing that bothers me. It's the plastic stuff that will be your worst enemy as things start to break just from age. Your truck should be just fine if you keep up with maintenance. Don't forget flushing the coolant. I made that mistake and had to replace my entire cooling system. Replacing the heater core on a 2001 Explorer was a nightmare. I now flush mine every 3rd oil change and things are great. With the cost of cars these days just keep what you got and baby the thing with the large amount of miles you are putting on it each month. Best of luck.
