Hello, I have a 1999 Honda Accord EX with a 2.3 SOHC VTEC engine and whenever i am driving when the car hits 4000 rpm it seems like it is redling and you can feel jumping in the engine. I was told it was the VTEC solenoid by a code, so i replaced the solenoid, i also noticed 2 motor mounts were ruined so i replaced them (front and back) and the problem still persists. Any ideas of what may be causing this issue?
Did you check/clean out the screen? It's between the head and the solenoid. It's supposed to keep any deposits in the engine from reaching the solenoid, sometimes it gets clogged and won't let the vtec kick in. Might want to try some Marvel Mystery oil and run it for 30-40 minutes (don't drive it) and then do an oil/filter change and see if it helps any?
Second the motion to check and clean the VTEC screen/filter. If you are standing in front of the engine, it is located right behind the engine, towards the passenger side.
