I've got a lovely all original one family owned 03' Civiv EX coupe with a 1.7 liter Vtec and a manual transmission 205k, Bought her used 6 months ago for $3500.
THE PROBLEM is that the transmission stick doesnt wan't to go into 1st or reverse sometimes when i'm sitting still, its always both at the same time, wont fully lock into R or 1, but will slip gracefully into 2-5.
I've changed the transmission fluid it looked very much like honey comeing out, I put honda dealership MTF in.
To get it to go I can take my foot off the clutch and push again, sometimes twice, then it drives home fine.

Heck replace the clutch master cylinder and clutch slave cylinder easy job but if that doesn't do it you'll need a new clutch
Sounds like first and reverse gear synchros are going out. Rebuild time.
