Hey Scotty, I recently replaced my 2.2L 4 cylinder engine from my 2000 Toyota Camry Automatic, after it warms up the engine idle drops to around 500 to 200 rpm causing the car to shake when it is at a stop, at around 1.5k-2k rpm the engine makes a sort of “chainsaw” noise when it kicks into 2nd gear. The car seems to run fine at highway speeds but is hard to drive in stop and go traffic conditions. Any idea of what might be wrong? Check Engine light is on and there was a tear on an air box tube that I sealed up to no avail.
What are the codes?
Check and clean the IAC, the Idle Air Control Valve. Check and clean the throttle body and the MAF.
After that, if that doesn't improve the situation, check for vacuum leaks. After that, you can also do a wet and dry compression test.
A scan tool with enhanced diagnostics and live data capabilities (like the Blue Driver) would be useful in diagnosis.
