Hello Mr. Scott,
my name is Justin Jackson. I have a 2001 dodge 3500 with a Cummins. I have a fass fuel pump installed on it. I also added a fass fuel heater installed. I was tired of gelling fuel lol. I installed a external voltage regulator because I thought the pcm regulator wasn’t working properly. Still wouldn’t charge. Then I installed a new alternator. Still no charge. I might have a bad “new” external regulator. I did some testing on it. I did a 20k ohm test and it was 9.05 ohm. The video I watched said that it should be over 1.76 ohm on a 20k ohm test. Thank you for your input. Love your videos. They are very informative and helpful. Thank You for being a great guy with this free information.
Thank You
Justin
Well I realize the computer in that car was set up to have a computer run alternator system with a PCM and if you start bypass on that stuff there's no saying how that will affect the computer programming. My advice would be if you can find an alternator that is a one wire alternator install that there are alternators that only have one wire that's just the battery power wire and they will work on any vehicle if you can find one that'll fit that
