Do I have to buy 195-65-15 tires for my car (that's the size I have on it now) or is there a smaller, less expensive one I can buy?

Use only the size tires as stated in your owner's manual.

Ok thanks

or stated on the door jamb sticker, which is even easier to find.

I don't think smaller tires will be much cheaper, if at all.

And even if they were, it probably wouldn't offset the cost of the extra fuel you'll burn over the next 5 years, by having your engine go faster to make up for the small tires.

You don't want to go smaller on tires, they'll have a lower load rating. On most vehicles it is OK to go up a size, but you'd need to check clearance to be certain. Stay away from cheap Chinese-made tires - it's not worth your life to save a few bucks.

Thank you
