Hi Scotty!
I drive a 2001 Honda Odyssey with the original automatic transmission. The van has somewhere over 265,000 kilometers on it. I'm not entirely sure of the exact figure because the odometer is digital and just puts out gibberish 95 percent of the time, but 265,000 is what it read last time it decided to work properly. I've been told that the second gen Odyssey vans apparently have weak transmissions and they die out all the time and I'm worried about that happening, especially considering the age and mileage of the van. Are there any things to look out for that might let me know if my transmission is about to go out? At the moment it still shifts smoothly and there don't seem to be any issues, except about 20 percent of the time it won't shift into second until I'm up to between 3-4 thousand RPMs. The rest of the drivetrain seems to be mechanically sound, no ticking, no strange noises, no oil burning etc.
1999-2004 honda 4-speeds had the worst toothpick strength transmissions of all time.
They improved after 2007+ best were 2007-2013 transmissions
