Hey Scotty hope you can help. My 2001 Q45 Is making a noise at idle can’t really tell it as much or even hear it at cruising speeds in a way it does kind of sound like a metal to metal sound but then again it also sounds like a suction sound. Every now and again I will feel a little miss and other times it runs smooth as silk but the noise is always there at idle whether the engine is warmed up or cold start. I have replaced plugs and water pump I am not getting any check engine lights or codes. The sound is also amplified if I stick my ear up to the airbox that sits on top of the radiator it’s as if the sound is coming from that general direction I’ve checked the airbox all the way to the throttlebody and don’t see any cracks or gaps. I forgot to say I removed all belts and started the engine for a short min to rule out Idler pulley and bearing noise. So I know for sure it's not that. I'll check out the video thanks a lot.

It sounds like something underneath the engine or somewhere very close and since it's constant sound I'm not sure what it could be exactly. The only other thing I would do is try to jack up the car and check for damage underneath and see if you can pinpoint the noise easier from there. GL
It sounds like a slight vacuum leak but do take the extra steps to go through the diagnostics and narrow it down.

Im not getting any check engine lights. To me if in deed it is a vacuum leak would that be the cause of the occasional miss? its just weird that its coming outta the air box
