These all seem to leak, have had 3 of these cars with small oil leaks.
This one is mothers low mileage car, 65K
Does leak a little oil but now consumes coolant.
Sometimes I seem to see more exhaust smoke, but its cold winter time here in western NY.
Tonight for the first time while inspecting overflow level I saw bubbled coming up from the bottom of the container.
Tomorrow I intent to do an oil change myself so can examine oil for coolant.
Seems I am leaking coolant into engine 🙁
Is there any chance of a repair, head gasket treatment products, Blue Devil etc?
Not going to spend 2K on a head gasket for 20yr old auto.
What if I do nothing but add more coolant as it gets consumed, gallon every few weeks?
Would just like to get a couple more years out of this car. Just spent $580 on a set of tires last month.
Cheers
If it’s a gallon every couple weeks I’d say it’s time is done and a few more years is highly unlikely. And that large of a leak a sealant is a long shot I’ve seen miracle videos on blue devil I tried it myself and it clogged everything and basically finished off the engine
Hi, not totally sure yet on consumption rate as I just found this problem recently. Several months ago it almost over heated on me and I discovered very little fluid in the system. I chalked that up to me not getting the cap back on correctly after a fluid inspection. Recently I just happen to check the over flow while adding washer fluid and discovered the over flow was empty. I refilled that and some into rad itself. Now I am watching it daily, made better hot/cold marks higher on the bottle, visible. I put in a couple cuts today after several days. Replace the rad cap being hopeful and old one is 20 yrs old.
It does not over heat. I use the Blue Driver code reader Scotty recommends and see the range of 183-205 with fan coming on and off regularly. Will continue to watch it daily.
Usually once they start leaking into the engine it's too late. If it was just an external leak (that's where Subaru head gasket problems usually start) sealer might help a little bit but unfortunately sounds like it's too far gone for that.
I’d still have to say like the guy above me if it’s internal it’s nearing the end. Leaks like that rarely stay the same it only gets worse but like your doing keep an eye on the level and don’t let it run low and you could still have a little bit of time
