Hey there Scotty, big fan! I bought a 2001 Camry (150,000k miles) runs really well, cost me only 500 bucks with CEL on of P0401 code for the egr system; I troubleshooted the actual EGR valve to find it was breaking, bought new one slapped it on. Found some leaks in some hoses in the egr sytem, replaced those Replaced the vacuum modulator Bought a new VSV (was not clicking) All parts are from TOYOTA OEM reset the dtc and drove it around highway and street, light went away and stayed off. Everything was green, good to go! 3 months later and the light came back onfor same dtc I reset the code and drove and everything was back to normal Its been 2 weeks since that reset and it still reads as 0 dtc and green My question is, is there something else causing it to trigger the code off and on from time to time? What do you recommend? , thank you for all you do!

Hey there Scotty, big fan!

I bought a 2001 Camry (150,000k miles) runs really well, cost me only 500 bucks with CEL on of P0401 code for the egr system;

I troubleshooted the actual EGR valve to find it was breaking, bought new one slapped it on.

I had the same code on my 1999 4-cylinder tacoma (EGR insufficient flow). I verified that the EGR was working ok. Replaced the modulator with a used one, did NOT fix the problem. Removed and cleaned the EGR temp gauge, that fixed the problem. Easy to do.
