Hey Scotty!

What is your opinion on the 2002 Cadillac Escalade 6.0 AWD?

I recently purchased one with 285k miles for $3k, to have as a weekend vehicle (not my daily). It appears well maintained and runs/drives excellent. Previous owner was a mechanic, or so I was told by his wife. You almost have to be a mechanic to own one... This is my second Cadillac (I should get checked...), so I know that the dependability usually isn't there, but I'm surprised at how this one has held up so long.

Interested to hear your thoughts on the prehistoric Cadillac!

Eric

Seeing as the Escalade is basically a Tahoe, they were pretty solid built back then. Still, 285k probably means a rebuild is lurking in the near future. For the price and if you aren't putting many miles on it, I guess it is ok.

I'm prepared for anything to go at any minute 😅. The engine sounds amazing, it may have been rebuilt already... but again I am prepared for it to crap out any time being it's so old and high mileage. Will be fun while it lasts.

Good news is they aren't the hardest engines to work on. The design has been around forever so if it does go, pretty much any decent mechanic should be able to rebuild it without beating you over the head too badly on price.
