How long will my 2002 dodge durango last? I’ve had it since 2007 same year you started YouTube. It burns a little oil but shifts just fine. Just wondering if I should try selling it in this current market of overpriced used cars.  Also could you maybe a do a video on rebuilding a transmission? You always talk about how complex automatic transmissions are. Love your videos

You are driving on borrowed time.  I would sell it while it's still running.

I left my crystal ball in my other house. But seriously, no one can tell you how long it'll last. You might get another 200,000 miles or it'll have a major failure today.

Never seen one go that far so....yeah. I'd start looking for a replacement.

Well, it depends on your financial situation. Do you have the money to buy a newer or better car? Do you know for sure you could sell it for some decent money? Because I couldn't even get even $800 out of my running and driving 1993 Oldsmobile, because while the price of cars has gone up, so has the number of beggars and guys who say "Well here's what I got to trade you".

Older Chryslers were made better...clearly. And I've seen the early 2000s Dodge Durangos and Dakotas go over 200k miles before so I'm not very surprised honestly.

How long does it have left? Who knows? But it only burns a little oil, and it still shifts good, so if you take care of it good enough you could get another 20k to 30k miles out of it, maybe even more.

If I were you, I'd hold onto it until either the motor blows up or the transmission goes, but I'm really short on cash so that's just me, and you are most likely in a better position.

Also, you've had it since 2007, so you may have gotten somewhat attached to it after 15 years, I know I would have.

If you have proven excellent maintenance history, then it may go for a couple years. If no history, then get out your dice!

I would keep it and see how far it will go.  With that many miles you wont get that much for it plus it could go another couple years.  Everybodys situation is different.

Just some anecdotal evidence.  I have two friends, each with the first generation Dodger Durango.  And they still have them up and running.  Granted, I don’t think they are up to 218,000 miles.  But just by keeping up with basic maintenance, they have gotten it this far.

As for how long? I am generally no too optimistic with Chrysler products.  At the same time, if you need a car, and it is working, in this market, it may be better to keep it running, since it is already paid for.  And it is the devil you know.
