I have a friend that has a 2002 rx300 the transmission started acting weird at first it wouldn't shift into O/D then within 3 miles it wouldn't shift into 3rd gear and shortly after it wouldn't shift out of 1st gear. But I drove it for him and 1st gear still feels good (no slip or anything of the nature) but will not shift up at all. Also when we put it in reverse theres a slight delay and then it lurches into reverse. Any idea what this problem could be? The fluid is clean and full does not smell burnt or anything out of the ordinary and currently no check engine light or any other lights on the dash
Have a pro check the transmission, but considering the mileage, odds are that you need a new transmission. The earlier RX models transmission was not very strong.
What is the transmission maintenance history of this vehicle? You never said how many miles are on this now 20 year old car.
Sorry it has 270k on it its had the fluid changed at 50k mile intervals since new
Was the trans filter ever changed?
