Hello Scotty,
I'm looking at purchasing a 2003 Toyota Matrix XR AWD with the 1.8L engine, it has 83,883 miles on it. Do you think its a good choice for a commuter car? I'm just looking to find a decent and reliable commuter car with good mpg. Any advice or thoughts is greatly appreciated, Thanks!

It can be a great car. Have your mechanic check it before purchase.
