I have a 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe that has a lot fixed on it. The car was started by the mechanic shop and taken for a long test drive. Whenever they started the vehicle, it would sometimes turn over many times before igniting, and sometimes be very quick. I drove it home and everything drove very well. Later that day it started to get colder, and instead of turning over a lot of times it stuttered quite a bit and would not start. What could be the problem here? The mechanics did quite a bit including timing belt, spark plugs, and fixed some head gaskets. I can specify more if needed.
Check your battery health.
I checked the battery and it read 12+ volts, so I don’t believe that’s the problem.
I meant under the load. Go to Autozone shop and ask them to load test your battery and alternator.
The car can’t start anymore, but I will try to get it over to one and get that tested.
So the issue is your battery. Get a new one and your problem will be solved.
Ok, thank you very much!
If you turn the key and nothing happens, odds are you have a bad starter. If the engine cranks but doesn’t start, you might have a bad fuel pump. What I would recommend is taking a video of it and going back to those mechanics and showing it to them.
