Greetings:
I have a 2004 rav4 AWD with 180,000 miles on it. The car is a hand me down. The car runs very well and the (automatic) transmission normally shifts fine. I have noticed as the weather has gotten colder here in southeastern NC that below about 50 F, the transmission takes about 30 to 60 s to shift to its lowest gear when I get up to speed, 45 mph upon leaving my house when the engine is cold. It doesn't do this in warm weather. not sure the transmission fluid has ever been changed but am thinking if doing that just as a maintenance chore. Any suggestions? Thanks for any assistance.

Check the transmission fluid level and color.
Drain and refill the transmission fluid if it is dirty may be a good idea.
