I start up the Tahoe and gage shows hi oil pressure in park, but when I shift to drive no oil pressure, i drove two blocks and smell metallic burning smell,, No valve ticking no smoke from tail pipe and no overheating what is going on ?

Dashboard oil pressure gauges are notoriously unreliable. Verify oil pressure with a mechanical gauge.
